Kindergarten Buddies
4th grade and Kindergarten value the connection that can be made to foster leadership and a sense of community. This year we will be partaking in buddy activities with Mrs. Poteet's kindergarteners. By doing this the 4th graders learn how to be a mentor, and the kindergarteners will gain a better sense of belonging with another friend in the building. Here are some pictures of our first meeting!

First Week of the 19-20 School Year in 4H!
The first week in 4H was filled with a lot of special moments! We were difference makers by participating in random acts of kindness for our Reed community. By decorating Reed's bathrooms with uplifting signage, to writing special notes for Reed teachers, and a compliment circle for the members of 4H, I hope they all came home feeling good that they filled so many buckets! In addition to all of that kindness, we started getting to know each other by wearing Ask Me About stickers and having snowball fight. We had quite a few circles that discussed many topics both school related and about their personal lives. One of our key pieces to our 4H family included talking about toxic and nourishing behaviors. In this conversation we created a list of actions and behaviors that we want to see, feel, and hear in our 4H family (nourishing), and what we don't want to see, hear, and feel (toxic). Then the members of 4H had fun seeing the toxic list ripped up, and the nourishing list hung up for all to live by for the rest of the year. Lastly, we participated in many team building activities. These activities are very important for building our classroom community. Some of these activities were: Masterchef- team challenge, a group puzzle activity, the sit challenge, finding clock partners, and game choice time. Below are pictures from our fabulous first week! This group is a very sweet bunch of kids, and I am enjoying getting to know them all. Thank you for sharing them with me. I have no doubt it will be a wonderful year filled with discovery, creativity, and friendship!
