Getting to Know Mrs. Hadfield
I am very excited to join Reed! Go Panthers!
Teaching Experience- This is my 13th year of teaching! I have worked in many school districts, and with every age at the elementary school level. I love to teach the intermediate grades during the school year, but I find myself with primary when I teach summer school! I really enjoy the change in age throughout the summer. Those little ones keep me on my toes!
It was 12 years ago that I taught a year in Ladue. I was contracted for the year and worked as a 4th grade teacher at OB and as the gifted/enrichment teacher at Reed. From Ladue I went to Bayless to have my very own classroom. I taught in the Bayless School District for two years teaching 4th grade and then looping with my class to 5th grade. My next move was to Rockwood. I worked for four years at Chesterfield Elementary as a 5th grade teacher before moving to Ellisville Elementary where I've taught for the last three years. I was a 5th grade teacher at Ellisville as well. One of the highlights of my career came unexpectedly last year. I was honored and humbled to receive the Teacher of the Year award for 2014. It was very difficult to leave Ellisville Elementary, but I am ecstatic to be back in the Ladue School District where my career started.
My Family- My family is big and I love it! In my family I am the oldest of five kids. I have three other sisters and one brother. My husband, Tom Hadfield (who teaches at the Fifth Grade Center), is also one of five kids. He has three brothers and one sister (Megan Hadfield who teaches 1st grade at Spoede). With these two large families I am blessed to have many nieces and nephews (a total of 14 to be exact). My daughter, Aspen Elizabeth Hadfield, brings the total of grandchildren from both sides to 15. Whew! Holidays are CRAZY!!! Aspen was born on June 3, 2014, and has brought so much joy into our lives! I adore coming to work and teaching other's children, but coming home to Aspen is the highlight of my day. I love my new family, both at home and at Reed!
